I have been an Amos Lee fan for quite some time now and went to his shows the last couple of times he came through town. When I heard he was coming back I was excited, and even more so when I heard that WXRT had scheduled a Live From Studio X (a series of small intimate shows featuring bands and musicians) before his show at the Vic Theatre.
I have been wanting to design and print a poster for a Studio X and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to take a crack at it. The station and label both really liked the design so they gave me the go ahead to print a run of them. I printed all of the posters at Screwball Press and the session went really well.
The design is two colors (iridescent raspberry mixed with yellow and midnight blue) and is printed on French Paper’s Cream Speckleton cover stock. I really like the texture of the paper and feel it adds a lot more interest to the design. I signed and numbered a run of 93 for the station and they are planning on giving some away to a few lucky concert-goers at the show.
I’m really happy with the way they turned out and can’t wait to design and print another one soon. Here are some photos of the final poster and some pics I took on my iPhone at the studio. I will bring a better camera next time.
