Samuel Beam, better known by his stage name Iron and Wine, played a couple concerts this past week in Chicago. I was lucky to photograph both shows for WXRT. The first show was a Live From Studio X performance at The Hideout in Chicago. If you have never been to a show at The Hideout it is definitely worth checking out. If you are planning on photographing a show there make sure to bring your fastest lens since it is very dark. I mainly used my 50mm f/1.8 lens and had my ISO set around 2500 for the entire show.
The second show Sam played was the sold-out WXRT show at The Riviera Theatre in Uptown. I absolutely love shooting at the Riv because the photo pit is basically on the stage so you can get real close to the band and get some great angles. The lighting was a little dark but I was able to get some shots that I was really happy with.
I took all of these photos with a Canon 50D and 60D, Canon 24-70 f/2.8, Canon 50 f/1.8, and the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8.
