LCD Soundsystem plays a sold out XRT show at Metro in Chicago, IL

LCD Soundsystem Interview and Concert at Metro

LCD Soundsystem stopped in Chicago to play an XRT show at Metro last night. I was lucky enough to listen in on the sound check and also join Marty Lennartz for an interview with LCD Soundsytem’s frontman James Murphy. They conducted the interview at Smart Bar which is in the basement of the venue. The two covered a variety of topics including music videos, leaking albums before their release dates, and plans for the band after the tour.

Later the band took the stage to a sold-out energetic crowd. I was given the standard first 3 songs to photograph the band and fortunately Metro had set up a pit for us to shoot from (they don’t always have the pit set up which can make it tough to shoot shows there). The lighting was sporadic and the stage was at times only lit by a single disco ball making it tough to get the proper setting down. I had the ISO set at 1600 for the entire show and had to use some slower shutter speeds accompanied by a large aperture of between 2.8 and 3.5.
